Seeburg KT                                                                       With Flute Pipes

Next up for restoration is an Seeburg KT with Flute pipes.

The sides of the case and the lid will be replaced due to water/moisture damage that had warped/bowed the wood.

This unit was previously restored unsuccessfully.

Below are pictures when the KT arrived.

Started on April 28th,08      "The Restoration"
It always gets worse before it gets better.

Warped sides

Pin Block was actually in good shape but had to be re-secured.        Gluing Sound Board to ribs where they lifted off due to the cracks.

Cork gaskets will leak. Should have leather.

Someone using the wrong glue again. What a mess.

Had to cut new   bottom boards for pneumatics.

Player Pneumatic

Someone used regular brown caulk to glue down the Pipe Chest Pneumatics. NOT a good idea!

Had to cut new Pneumatic boards.

Building new valves for the Pipe Chest. Upgrading them to Hard Fiber disks instead of the original Hard Red Press board. In which warps.

Repairing cracks in the sound board. Lots of them.

Before & After of the back side of the sound board. ALL cracks have been repaired even though it looks like they are present in picture.

Here is the completed sound board. Normally the repairs to the cracks would blend but the board was previously stained and could not get the shims any closer in color. Now its in great shape with a nice crown.

Attaching the bottom leg to the side.

Pipe chest valves

Installing pneumatics and setting valve travel.

Before and after pictures of the reconditioned tracker bar.

 Completed Plate
New bottom

Restored Tambourine. MOST restorers would not go this far. This is one example why our completed restorations stand out from the others. When we state Fully Restored, Its Fully Restored! A new skin head was installed, jingles where chromed and rings where painted with the original Seeburg red that only we have in stock.

This KT was missing the Soft/Sustain pneumatic assembly. Not to worry. We can reproduce any item that might be missing. Someone was nice enough to lend me a unit to reproduce.

The unit on the left is the original

The unit on the right is the new reproduction.

(In both pictures)

Motor Done!

Case repaired and veneered. Has been stained. Next will be a coat of sealer, grain filler then lacquer.

The picture on the right is before. Starting to install components. Stained glass cleaned and re grouted.

Built a triangle beater. It Originally  had the beater rod attached to the Castanet pneumatic. Sounds much better split up.
